Michael J Singletary (artist, filmmaker, radio/TV producer) is a long-established, highly-respected, and exceedingly accomplished artist from the New York City art scene where he burnished his reputation as a cultural provacateur. He is well- represented in NYC and DC with over 300 fine art exhibitions in noted galleries and museums, and has shown with contempories from Warhol to Maplethorpe.
With a keen insight into generational culture, his canvases have been featured in Spike Lee films (Mo' Better Blues, Jungle Fever), espied in episodes of the Cosby Show, and captured through CD cover art from his coveted Jazz Series. Publication and credits from print media from his career are too numerous to count. His full C.V. can be found at www.michaelsingletary.com.
Michael achieved a BFA from Syracuse University and attended the Fountainbleu Music and Fine Arts Conservatoire in France on a Damrosch scholarship, before enjoying a long career as a radio and TV producer for CBS Sports. He has recently relocated to quieter reflections in MD and now resides and works just outside DC.
Michael's style has steadily evolved through the stages of photorealism. In his Chocolate Series, Michael explores the culture around this visual metaphor, using contemporary applications of acrylics and collage in collision with abstract realism to define a new style for the millennium.
